Documentary photography usually refers to a popular form of photography used to chronicle events or environments both significant and relevant to history and historical events as well as to current everyday life. Documentary work is nonfictional, intended to document some aspect of reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education, or maintaining a historical record. A popular form of documentary photography is reportage photography, it is a photographic style that captures a moment or event in a narrative fashion, i.e., where the images tell a story wherein there is an accurate representation of the story/people.

Program:

The workshop will look at exploring social issues and documentation through a visual format. Establishing a narrative of what you will be focusing on, we will build a work-plan on how to go ahead with research and groundwork. You will learn how to adapt yourself in the field and how to build trust with the people of your story. All through the week, each participant will be given guidance on documenting a particular story and a minimum of 20-30 images will be expected to be reviewed on.
