Mentor’s Bio

Anita Pentecote is a visual art photographer specializing in pinhole camera work. She studied Fine Art in Montreal, where she learned to work with silkscreen and engraving techniques.

Even before her studies, she spent a lot of time in her darkroom creating experiments with gum bichromate, photographic emulsion on a different support. The abstract reality of the pinhole camera creates nostalgic pictures with an old technique that attracted Anita towards the pinhole camera.

Artistically, she became interested in the industrial heritage and the remaining evidence in the region, which inspired her. Pinhole is an ideal camera that exists in the bygone era. This photographic technique enables her to express her identity as an artist by revealing the hidden inheritance buildings, factories, and more, recently the women working on making biodynamic wines.

The pinhole camera, through its deformations, lends itself to approach the subject. It is not enough to photograph them precisely as they appear. She wants to magnify them and offer a oneiric universe of them. The phenomenon of time is very important in the process of making images with the pinhole camera.
