COVID 19 Livelihood Loss Support for Transgender Persons Thoothukudi
Activist Grace Banu is raising funds to support the transgender community in rural areas of Thoothukudi (Tuticorin).
Rural transgender persons in kovilpatti taluk, Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu are heavily dependent on begging as their only source of livelihood. Physical distancing is a privilege for many of them living in cramped communes. Most transgender people do not have government ID proofs viz. Aadhaar, DL, Passport, PAN, RATION, Voter ID cards and end up getting excluded even out of Food Security despite the Food Security Act and/or any other social welfare schemes of the state and central governments. In these overwhelming times, there is an urgent need to assist the transgender communities with their expenses this coming month.
Request for contributions to support this cause.
