Join us for a conversation with Aditya Arya - @adiarya, Founder of Museo Camera @museo_camera on World Photography Day as he shares his story about the founding of Museo Camera.  He will also walk us through the halls of the first of its kind museum on the history of photography in India and his journey of discovery into the Kulwant Roy archives.

Museo camera is the first modern camera museum in India that showcases the art, science and history of photography. This private museum founded in 2009, by photographer and visual historian Aditya Arya, began at the basement of his studio to share his unique and rare photographic collections with the public. 

The museum holds a huge collection of photo archives, more than 2500 vintage cameras from over 100 countries and photography equipment. Aditya Arya is the custodian of Kulwant Roy's photographs and the historic collection has iconic images of freedom fighters from the period of India's freedom movement.

Aditya Arya |  Director, Museo Camera - @museo_camera

An eminent commercial and travel photographer, Aditya Arya - @adiarya  began professional photography in 1980 after graduating in History from the St. Stephen?s College, Delhi  University.  After a brief stint in the Mumbai  Film  Industry where he did stills for some of the leading directors, he moved back to Delhi.  In addition to his wide-ranging  Commercial and Travel portfolio, his work has been published widely in books and travel magazines around the world. He is known for his expertise in the field of advertising and corporate photography, specializing in Products, Interiors and Food. He has played a pivotal role in the establishment of India Photo Archive Foundation and the Neel Dongre Awards/Grants for Excellence in Photography. 

Varun Gupta | Co-founder, Chennai Photo Biennale - @varunguptaphoto

Varun Gupta is a commercial photographer,  serial-entrepreneur,  digital ad-man and a lover of analogue photography who co-founded Chennai Photo Biennale in 2015. His alma maters include Light & Life Academy and the College of Wooster, US. In 2006 he founded Travelling Lens - a company that conducted specialised photography workshops and holidays in remote areas of India from 2007 to 2015. In 2010, Varun began work with Art Chennai (a city-wide arts event)  to manage their photography exhibitions with a focus on public engagement through which they organised large exhibitions in train stations and beaches in Chennai. Photo Seva is one of his long-term portraiture projects where he travels to make portraits of local communities across India with a large-format camera and B&W film. Varun is based in Chennai, India.
